Rob, I do believe the ordinance was removed or not passed for constitutionality reasons and the banning is still observed by common agreement among real estate people. In any case, it’s not enforced except by peer pressure, which works better anyway.

Oops! Now having read the Sarah Waldeck piece, I present myself as non-real estate agent exhibit A to make her point, namely that the ordinance is effective as is, though I guess I was wrong about its being removed.

Here’s another rhetorical question: Will the weenies commenting on the World Cup for American broadcasters call Coulibaly for his racism anymore than they did before he let it all hang out?

As for the seemingly narcissistic reference to Mandela: Mnadela is himslef a genocidal racist, whose favorite pastime is exhorting young black South Africans to kill whites, through singing “Kill the Boer (White)” with them.

Sarah, I don’t understand your point regarding the alleged victims’ ages. Perhaps a bit of research on sexual abuse (of every kind) would help you to see that those who prey on others can spot a vulnerable potential victim a mile away. It doesn’t matter what age they were, they were clearly abused by an authority figure. Very often, these predators can sense those who were sexually abused as young children by others and therefore never learn to protect themselves and set boundaries around abusers.

Sexual abusers take advantage of this confusion. Just as an act of sexual abuse is rarely, if ever, an isolated incident, most victims have a history that leaves them particularly vulnerable, including a lack of parental protection. Attention to the abuse of young children is crucial but does not condone the abuse of a person of any age. Between an authority figure of any kind and one less powerful, there is no such thing as mutual consent to this violation. I wonder why so many question the second to come forward?

Sexual abuse is a lifelong pattern and intimidating the victim into silence is a part of it. I imagine that many more would have come forward if not for fear of repurcussions, the worst being the fear of not being believed. Especially when the abuser has been consistently promoted to increasingly powerful positions rather than being exposed for the criminal he is.

I wonder how many lives this man has destroyed? They may have removed him from the academy but put him in an even more powerful position with students whose careers were threatened by his manipulation. Then put him in yet another position of power and authority over students at the medical center.

The Jesuits handling of this man has been truly insane. God bless the Provinicial who finally put an end to this insanity. And, finally, who will ever again trust Fr. McNally after he rushed to the media to publicly defend himself, betraying the confidence of what, in reality, was a confession? That lady doth protest too much me thinks.

Are there ANY honest and decent men (or women) remaining in Illinois politics ??? Between the Big Blogg and the even BiGGER “O” we are hard put to see any honesty, propriety, or simple integrity at work in the present Illnois system. Will no one save us from these tainted persons ??? The problem is — of couse — that the ills of Illinois aare not limied dto that entity — the diseases of dissembling and dishonesty are epidemic, and appaently carried in the gene banks of out leders.

We had better cling to our (hopefully) immutable beliefs in truth and justice, because we a facing a natonal test — the outcome of which may readily doom our naive beliefs in truth, honor, and even National Survival.
